Draft law amending Act No. 240/2000 Coll., on crisis management and amending certain laws (Crisis Act), as amended, and Act No. 243/2020 Coll., on the powers of the Police of the Czech Republic and municipal police punish violations of crisis measures and extraordinary measures ordered in connection with the detection of the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus in the territory of the Czech Republic.

The draft law presented by the Ministry of the Interior responds to the problems arising in punishing non-compliance with government measures during the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, while simultaneously increasing the fines for these violations. Regulates the punishment of legal entities and natural persons running businesses for violation of crisis measures and their obligation to suffer restrictions imposed by crisis measures under a fine of up to CZK 3,000,000. According to the new regulation, fines for natural persons could reach up to CZK 50,000. At the same time, the draft law authorizes the Police of the Czech Republic and municipal police to control compliance with crisis measures and impose fines by order directly on the spot.
